Greetings and peace to you in Christ!
Over the past several months, our staff and I have been prayerfully reviewing our parish organizational structure, staff responsibilities, and strategic priorities. Our goal has been to strengthen collaboration, improve efficiency, and ensure that we continue serving our parish family with excellence, hospitality, and joyful stewardship.
As many of you know, we have been searching for a full-time Administrative Assistant since last year. As Scripture reminds us, God's timing is always perfect. I am delighted to share that our search has been successful, and we are pleased to welcome Mary Yaple Mocanu to the St. Ambrose staff. Mary will begin serving as our Front Desk Administrative Assistant on Wednesday, July 15. Please join me in giving her a warm St. Ambrose welcome and keeping her in your prayers as she begins this new ministry among us.

“My name is Mary Mocanu, and I am originally from Kalamazoo. I recently returned to the area after living in Romania for 16 years. Some of you may know me as Mary Yaple or may remember my grandparents, Edward and Helen Fitzgerald.
I am a graduate of Kalamazoo College and have worked in church administration at other local Catholic parishes. During my years in Romania, my late husband, Cristian, and I owned and operated a translation business.
I am grateful for the opportunity to join the staff at St. Ambrose and look forward to getting to know the parish community and serving alongside you." Mary M

I would like to express my deepest gratitude to Marilyn Thornburg for her many years of faithful and dedicated service as our Administrative Assistant. Marilyn has been a tremendous blessing to our parish, and I am grateful that she will continue to share her gifts with us by serving in a part-time role as our Parish Bookkeeper.
Parish Office Hours and Staff Role Re-alignment
Beginning July 15, the following staff responsibilities will be in place:
As with any organizational transition, we will carefully evaluate these changes in the fall, celebrating what is working well while identifying opportunities for continued growth and improvement. Our desire is to build a strong, collaborative staff that serves you with generosity, professionalism, and the love of Christ.
Beginning July 15, the following staff responsibilities will be in place:
- Mary Yaple Mocanu will serve as our Front Desk Administrative Assistant, assuming front office reception, administrative responsibilities, and Safe Environment coordination.
- Marilyn Thornburg will serve as our Part-Time Parish Bookkeeper.
- Sophie Rice will serve as Part time in the front office as needed
- Colleen Heacock will continue as our OCIA Coordinator, Youth activities coordinator and Bulletin Editor.
- Cori Dupay will continue as our Religious Education Coordinator and Assistant Safe Environment Coordinator.
- Mike Krajnik will continue serving our parish as our Maintenance Coordinator.
- Beth McElhone will continue serving our Parish as our Music director
- Paulette Turbide and Patricia Curtis will continue offering cleaning services to our Parish
- Monday through Friday: 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
- Lunch Break: 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m.
